The Manufactured Home Registry (the Registry) is proud to announce the addition, effective February 4, 2008, of a new transaction to MH Online, the Registry online filing system through BC OnLine. This new transaction will enable Qualified Suppliers to remove a Joint Tenant owner(s) from the title of a manufactured home due to a death.
Joint tenancy allows two or more people to share ownership in a manufactured home. When two or more people own a manufactured home as joint tenants and one owner dies, the other owner(s) automatically own the deceased owner's share. For example, if a parent and child own a house as joint tenants and the parent dies, the child automatically becomes full owner. Because of this right of survivorship, no will or probate is required to transfer the home. However, the Manufactured Home Act requires that the change in ownership must be recorded with the Registry.
